Opponents of the controversial drilling technology known as hydraulic fracturing descended on Washington during "Stop the Frack Attack" rally, which was organized by a coalition of community groups, citizen activists and environmental organizations. They say the process used to force natural gas from shale formations threatens public health, drinking water and the global climate. Among the speakers at the demonstration was the author and co-founder of the environmental group 350.org, Bill McKibben.
