MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA) -- A driver involved in a fatal accident on Saturday night is now charged with driving under the influence, aggravated involuntary manslaughter, and maiming by DUI, say Prince William County Police.

Police say Lori Love Shipe, also known as Lori Lynn Love, was driving a Lexus RX300 northbound on Dumfries Road near Brentsville Road in Manassas when she disregarded a red light and struck a Ford Focus that was turning left from Prince William Parkway East to Dumfries Road. A Jetta stopped at a red light at Prince William Parkway South ready to turn onto Prince William Parkway West was then hit by the Ford Focus.

Shipe and the driver of the Jetta were  not injured, but the driver of the Focus was flown to a hospital with life threatening injuries. The passenger of the Focus, 57-year-old Judith Ann Meyer, was taken to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Police say a dog in the Focus had severe injuries and died while in transport to the animal hospital.

According to police, during their investigation it was determined that Shipe had been driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. They say speed is not believed to be a factor.
