05.27.12 Army Seeks Renewable Energy Sources
The
U.S. Army is one of the nation's biggest consumers of energy, spending
more than $1 billion a year on electricity for its facilities. But now
the Army wants to reduce its energy costs. To do that, it's looking to
the private sector to install
solar, wind and other forms of renewable energy at its sites. Richard Kidd, the Army's deputy assistant secretary for energy and sustainability, discusses the service's plans to solicit such private sector investments.
