Chris Newkumet is a veteran news reporter and editor, where he has spent nearly his entire professional career covering Washington from a business perspective, particularly the dramatic shifts in federal regulation of critical energy industries. Newkumet has been with The McGraw-Hill Companies for 29 years and currently serves as chief editor of Inside FERC, the industry standard for coverage of that critical federal agency.
He has been interviewed several times for national print, radio and television coverage of high-profile developments in the energy sector. The perspective he brings to public discourse in this area is rooted in his many years as an observer and reporter of the historic evolution of natural gas, electricity and hydropower regulation and markets.
Along with colleagues from the Platts division of McGraw-Hill, Newkumet developed and maintains a highly successful Washington newsmaker event - Platts Energy Podium. He also is a member of the Platts team that produces the annual Global Energy Awards, a high-profile awards program that recognizes leaders in the energy industries worldwide. He also serves as producer and moderator of a series of energy webinars sponsored by Platts.
Chris also helps produce, and has appeared as a guest analyst on Platts Energy Week TV.
He has been involved in the McGraw-Hill Mentoring Program as both a mentee and mentor, and participated in the Platts Editorial Abroad program as a visiting editor to Singapore in 2008.
